Today, I’m doing the last in a series of four Artist Demos for the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco. They have been host to the exhibition; “Marvelous Menagerie: A Roman Mosaic from Lod, Israel” curated by Renee Dreyfus and Louise Chu. I’ll be offering mosaic demonstrations and hands-on activities in Gallery 12 from noon to 3 PM, today Saturday, July 9th.
If you have not yet seen this exhibition and like mosaics, this is a golden opportunity. The exhibition closes on July 24th.
Here are some close-ups of the exquisite andamento (the flow of the tesserae) from this classic Roman pavement:
Great fun to see your mosaic demonstration today! My mom kept asking me questions while we were looking at the Lod mosaic and it was cool that you (and your art pieces and displays) answered so many of them. And now when I get frustrated working on a mosaic project I can just remember that even you say: “Mosaics: it’s a lot of work!”
Hi Katie, great to meet you and your darling mom. I’m glad you found the displays and answers helpful in enhancing your experience of the gorgeous Lod mosaic. That’s why i was there!
Yep…let’s start the ad campaign, get the t-shirts, recruit some celebrities….it could be bigger than Got Milk…maybe. 😉 Thanks for coming out today! You have a great blog too.
