Lillian returns to
INSTITUTE OF MOSAIC ART VISITING ARTIST SERIES
with her popular workshop
Mosaics from the Mind’s Eye:
Connecting to Your Creative Power
January 14- March 11, 2009
START THE NEW YEAR WITH THE BALANCE AND HARMONY
Working within the framework of the “mandala” or sacred circle, each
week we integrate mosaic making with a variety of exercises designed
to provide reflections into artistic expression and help give meaning
to your work.
WE EXPLORE how working with the circle can connect us
with ancient symbols, sacred geometry, cycles of nature, deeper levels of
consciousness, and a more integrated perspective on the creative
process. Look to your own Mind’s Eye and discover the powerful imagery
that is awaiting only for you.
YOU DESIGN, choose materials, and set a uniquely personal 18″-24″
diameter mosaic piece. The first hour of each class begins with a
guided meditation to inspire the creative mind, followed by lecture
and discussion topic of the week. The class includes readings, lots of
visual source material, and hands-on mosaic work in a lively group
setting. It is guaranteed that you will be exposed to new ideas to
incorporate into your mosaic work!
YOU ARE FREE to work with the materials of your choice (tile, glass,
stone, smalti, mixed media, etc.). Experimentation is encouraged!
Homework will most likely be needed to finish the piece, depending on
complexity of personal design. Lillian gives plenty of one-on-one
guidance in a supportive and fun environment.
