Mosaics From the Mind’s Eye

New works from the Winter 2009 Session

On view until August 30 at Institute of Mosaic Art, Oakland

The nine-week ‘Mosaics from the Mind’s Eye’ is a course with unpredictable results. We work with the ‘sacred circle’ or mandala as our base. Mandalas are cosmic diagrams or maps leading to inner wisdom and connection to the greater whole. The group joins together in a common bond of discovery, yet on fully individual paths. Every meeting brings a new lesson or inspiration. What we do is navigate—as ancient mariners followed the stars—gazing inward without judgment to find our True North. The course is uncharted, a bit mysterious. The arrival at a finished piece, a truly magical map of the artist’s expedition, is always a satisfying rest stop on the creative journey.
