NOW UPDATED! An intriguing mosaic mystery: Pablo Picasso, the Cote d’Azur in the 1950s, an enchanting young lover, and the case of the missing mosaics.
Video and images from Our Art in Architecture Tour I lead with Eric Vogel, Pres. of the Docomomo US/Wisconsin chapter. The 1956 mural is by Edmund Lewandowski, commissioned by Allen Bradley [now Rockwell Automation, Inc.] The 40-foot long smalti mosaic mural has been a focal point of the company cafeteria for 67 years! The mural depicts AB’s patented electrical components from 1893 to 1954. Thanks to Rockwell for this incredibly rare opportunity and to David Erickson and Justin Racinowski for the awesome video! . ENJOY!
